Background: Why we’re YES on Prop. 50:
It’s simple: the outcome of this election will have immeasurable impacts on school funding and the future of our democracy. We cannot sit this one out with so much on the line for our students, communities and public education.
Every member of Congress in California who would be impacted by Prop. 50 voted FOR devastating cuts to healthcare and education this year, siding with billionaires, corporations and extremists over our communities. Several of them lied directly to local educators’ faces when we visited their offices this spring to demand they vote against extreme cuts to our schools. Some even refused to meet with local teachers in their offices.
These politicians have demonstrated that they are willing to throw their own communities under the bus in exchange for tax breaks for billionaires. This is why our union stands in full support of this ballot measure to defend our schools, services and our people.
We look forward to seeing you at walks and your videos in support of Prop. 50! For more ways to take action, visit our hub at cta.org/prop50
